✨ Jinhongyang Celadon Mug combines elegance with functionality. This mug features an embossed waves design and a fish-shaped knob. It boasts a smooth glaze finish, ideal for office and home tea moments. Jin Hongyang, a principal manager at Yujian Celadon Co., Ltd., brings her expertise to this creation. Her journey in celadon making spans seven years, honing her skills under her grandfather, Jin Pin.
📚 Jin studied at the Celadon and Sword Design Technician Institute (2018) and Zhejiang Electromechanical Vocational Technical University (2021). She graduated in 2023 with a major in product design. Her formal education laid the foundation for her dedication to celadon craftsmanship. Her grandfather, Jin Pin, an heir of Longyao kilns, immersed her in traditional techniques.
🛠️ Since age 15, Jin trained rigorously under master potters and kiln experts. She mastered Longquan celadon production, including mountain clay selection, manual wheel-throwing, glaze mixing, and ceremonial firing. Her expertise extends to traditional wood-fired dragon kilns and reopening kilns to retrieve wares. Her passion and fidelity to the craft are evident in every piece.
🏡 In 2015, Jin joined her father, Jin Chaojun, in integrating homestay tourism, kilns, cultural study programs, and dining into a village-led economic revitalization model in Baoxi. Their model, "kiln ware, tea service, guest hosting, and lodgings," became a self-sustaining ecosystem leveraging craft heritage for community prosperity.
📺 Jin Pin Longyao’s celadon craftsmanship has been featured by major media outlets, including CCTV’s Ceramic Journey, Happy Chinese, Taiwan’s China Journey, Bring Kids to See the World, as well as Korean TV and Zhejiang Satellite TV’s Master Craftsmen. Her works are collected by experts and esteemed clientele globally.
💼 Upon returning home to launch her business, Jin Hongyang received coverage from CCTV, Zhejiang TV, Xinhua News Agency, and other prestigious media. She delivered entrepreneurship talks at her university and taught wheel-throwing and sculpture to foreign artists at Longquan’s Tao Xi Chuan art park. She actively livestreams and markets wood-fired Longquan celadon on TikTok, advancing cultural export and rural revitalization.
🤝 Through her enterprise, Jin provides jobs for elderly and disabled residents and hires local university graduates, promoting equitable community development. Every year, she organizes a dragon kiln opening ceremony, inviting tea enthusiasts, collectors, and distributors both domestically and abroad to celebrate traditional celadon and increase international visibility.
🌟 Jin leads innovations that blend tradition with modern market design, creating a harmonious social and economic ecosystem based on inheritance, agrarian support, and innovation. In 2024, she participated in Jiangxi TV’s Chinese Ceramics Gala, producing a perfect sphere for a Kazakh ophthalmologist named Mr. Bilek. Her work, "Vision," was selected as the Chinese national gift.
🏆 Jin has won numerous awards, including a Bronze prize at the 12th China Ceramic Art Exhibition in 2022. She was named Zhejiang Provincial Outstanding Graduate & top work award at Zhejiang Electromechanical University in 2023. Her work "Mei Shadow" won a Bronze prize at the 4th Chinese Celadon Conference. In 2024, she won a Silver Award at the Shaoxing Art & Craft Fair and a Gold Award in China’s Arts & Crafts Association Year of the Dragon design contest.
