✨ Jin Hongyang's Handcrafted Teacup ✨
Jin Hongyang, born in 2003, is the principal manager of Yujian Celadon Co., Ltd. She studied at the Celadon and Sword Design Technician Institute (2018) and Zhejiang Electromechanical Vocational Technical University (2021). Graduating in 2023, she majored in product design. Her dedication to traditional Longquan celadon-making techniques began at age 15, under master potters and kiln experts.
Jin's journey started as a child raised beside kilns. She immersed herself in Longquan celadon-making techniques, mastering the full spectrum of production. This includes mountain clay selection, manual wheel-throwing, glaze mixing, kiln reconstruction, pit-loading, ceremonial firing, and traditional wood-fired dragon kilns. Her passion and fidelity to the craft are evident in every piece.
Since 2015, Jin has integrated homestay tourism, kilns, cultural study programs, and dining into a village-led economic revitalization model in Baoxi. Their model—“kiln ware, tea service, guest hosting, and lodgings”—became a self-sustaining ecosystem. This approach leverages craft heritage for community prosperity, attracting media coverage and international attention.
Jin's work has been featured by major media outlets, including CCTV’s Ceramic Journey and Taiwan’s China Journey. Her kiln’s plum green-glazed works are collected globally. In 2024, Jin participated in Jiangxi TV’s Chinese Ceramics Gala, producing "Vision," a perfect sphere for a Kazakh ophthalmologist. This work was selected through rigorous evaluation and presented as a Chinese national gift.
Jin Hongyang leads innovations that blend tradition with modern market design, creating a harmonious social and economic ecosystem based on inheritance, agrarian support, and innovation. At Yujian Celadon Co., Ltd., she promotes equitable community development by providing jobs for elderly and disabled residents and hiring local university graduates. Her business engages over 30 local villagers in shared prosperity.
Jin Hongyang has won numerous awards, including a Bronze prize at the 12th China Ceramic Art Exhibition and a Silver Award at the Shaoxing Art & Craft Fair. In 2024, "Vision" was chosen as the Chinese national gift presented to an eminent Kazakh scholar. She has also received a National Gold and Provincial Gold at the International College Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competitions. Her work "Mei Shadow" won a Bronze prize at the 4th Chinese Celadon Conference.
Through cross-border e-commerce, Jin Hongyang achieves sales of approximately US $50,000 per livestream. This makes overseas sales a major channel for her studio. Jin Hongyang continues to innovate and expand awareness of Longquan celadon culture. Her work "Summer Lotus" featured at the Zhejiang Celadon Global Tour exhibition in Cairo, Egypt, in 2022.
